PROCEDURE FOR STUDYING FOREIGN NATIONALS IN MONGOLIAN HIGHER EDUCATION INSTITUTIONS

   This regulation approved by Ministry of Education and Culture number 113 of April 9, 2001. 
   This regulation shall apply to foreign national studying and improving their professional skills in higher education institutions of Mongolia.
   In accordance with the regulations “foreign nationals wanting to study at a higher education institute of Mongolia shall submit the following documents to Mongolian set from “Mongolia’s Diplomatic and Consular mission abroad” and the administration of the school. These include: 
- Personal application; 
- CV;
- 1 copy of photo (3x4);
- Notarized copies of all levels of educational documents; 
- Medical examination documents (AIDS examination document);
- Reference from the sending the citizen to study in Mongolia;
- Notarized copy of foreign passport ;
- Letter from principle of the receiving school. 
   Foreign nationals studying in Mongolia shall abide by the Constitution of Mongolia, “Law of Mongolia on the legal status of foreign nationals” and the school rules. While studying in Mongolia, it is prohibited to engage in political and religious activities, to establish, join an organization, to campaign against Mongolian national custom, to promote, disseminate or use any form of violence, pornography, to promote, contrary and use drugs.           
   Foreign nationals who came to study at a higher education institution of Mongolia shall make contract with the director of educational institution. The contract contains the following conditions:
- Student's temporary residence, permit of entry and exit in Mongolia;
- Student housing and it’s expenses;
- Student's duration of study, scholarships, fees and responsibilities;
- Student's place of study, study conditions and supplies;
- Student health and insurance issues;
- Responsibilities  and actions to be taken when a student violate the law and regulations ;
- Student’s safety issues and responsible person;
- Whether to invite family members during the study period ;          
- Procedures and deadlines for reviewing the performance of contractual obligations.
   The residence permit of a foreigner in Mongolia is valid for up to 1 year, and in case of more than 1 year of training, it is renewed annually based on the school administration's reference, academic status, and contract performance. 
   Foreigners enrolled in temporary training will not be transferred to another school and their study permit will be revoked upon expiration of the contract.
   If a student fails to fulfill their contractual obligations and violates the provisions of this regulation, students study permit shall be revoked and the department shall be notified.
