The Speaker of the State Great Khural of Mongolia and members of the State Great Khural submitted the draft law on organ and tissue transplantation on 31 March 2025. In Mongolia, the Law on Donation was enacted in 2000 to regulate blood donation activities; it has since been amended, revised and recodified on four occasions to include provisions on organ donation and organ transplantation. Currently, stem cells are being used worldwide in tissue-regenerative therapies, legitimate embryo transfer, and other new methods and technologies have been introduced, and the law’s initiators emphasised that our country’s health sector must develop these advanced new technologies, noting that 93 countries worldwide have organ, tissue transplantation treatments are being performed, and 90 countries have enacted independent legislation on this treatment. Once the Organ and Tissue Transplantation Bill is enacted, the legal framework will be further refined and effective treatment methods will begin to be introduced. Furthermore, citizens will have the opportunity to receive high-quality treatment and services in their own country that meet international standards, and tissues from deceased donors, The policy and regulation on cadaveric organ transplantation will become clear and specific, and the quality, accessibility, and outcomes of treatment are expected to improve,” the State Great Khural’s Press and Information Office reported.
